The record was produced in the Definition of Sound room at Roundhouse Studios in Farringdon, London and mixed by Andy Kowalski in the small SSL room at Roundhouse. A Protools rig was running in the DOS room synced to the strings and vocals, which were on tape in another part of the building. The Mix bus was then sent back down to the DOS room so the mix could be supervised in the original production room while the mix was being worked on elsewhere. This illustrates the confusion that existed around the flexibility of the new technologies that were becoming available. Despite its complexity, I thought this arrangement was a stroke of genius at the time.
